The Precision Raceworks BMW N55 HIGH PERFORMANCE IGNITION KIT is designed to integrate with any vehicle equipped with the N55 engine. This is the highest output ignition system ever developed for the N55 community Featuring 100% plug and play connections and low resistance 50ohm/ft proprietary plug wires. This High voltage & High Current coil design is equipped with technology from Marine & Aerospace applications.

While coils do not increase horsepower unless the coil they are replacing are not doing their job the factory coils are lacking in proper output so much that all cars tested (stock or heavily modified) gain 20+ whp and 20+ wtq! Before and after dyno testing can be seen here.

Software tuning of vehicle is NOT required, without software tuning the coil output is xxxMj with software tuning available from most major software and tuning companies the coil output can be increased to 118mJ. To put this in perspective the factory coils have an output of only XXmJ so this kit increases output XXX%!

All components used meet or exceed OEM requirements and feature seals which are both dust and water resistant.

So buy the most robust and highest output coil and stop replacing coils constantly, stop fighting misfires, & enjoy better throttle response, smoother idle, and even more power out of your N55 today!

OEM Manifold Kit - Mounts to the DI fuel rail.  May require removal of the factory airbox, and removal of post on manifold (Cars that have airbox on top of the intake manifold)

Aftermarket Manifold - Intended for use with a Black Market Parts aftermarket intake manifold and mounts to the mounting tabs for the Port Injection fuel rail.

*Aftermarket intake highly recommended and may be required on some applications. Not compatible with OEM airbox (or any airbox that sits on the manifold in the same location as the coils) and may require removal of a mounting peg on the manifold.

**F10 and e9x N55 Chassis cannot fit both ignition kit and aftermarket manifold due to inlet location across the back of the engine.  Please email or call us for additional information before purchasing.

E90 n55 ignition kit

The kit was very simple, all it was was bolt on to factory holes and the rest was plug and play. Would highly recommend anybody looking for an ignition kit to just go ahead and buy this one!!!!

Very Good But Not GREAT

An installation video would be beneficial however it is decently easy to grasp if you know how to do a coil job. I put these on my 2015 f30 335i xdrive. You can fit these without cutting into your intake manifold engine cover peg which I HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND. Very fragile and one crack is a death sentence pretty much, it is very very tight in some places especially the Cyl 6 coil with the cowling. You must pry the plastic cowl up and push down on the metal coil bracket to put on the weather stripping and that is very tight in the connector but non damaging. this will require some force though. I HIGHLY recommend lots of zip ties to keep everything neat. I had to move a couple winging harnesses and temporarily disconnected some misc sensors to just make sure everything fit securely. I took it in a brief test drive and everything is fine so far. I’m currently full bolt on and then some with a bootmod3 stage 2 93 octane tune. 45,000 miles are on the car. I felt a small but noticeable difference in the hp/torque side of things and the engine definitely runs smoother. Than with the original coils. I recommend this product, but be prepared for some wiggling and fenagling about on your engine. Also note you cannot re-install any of your acoustic foam at the back of the engine or the engine beauty cover with these installed.

Installation caveats

I have no doubt these are excellent. But do careful research on the install. There are no instructions.
If you have an F10 N55 or something similar, you have to remove the OEM airbox (all of it). If your aftermarket air filter utilizes the base of the OEM airbox, you will have to run that without the base, or figure out a new air filter solution.
